The training in Swift programming language completed in Tuzla
PI supported a 4 day long training in Swift programming language for SMEs from Tuzla region, where 11 employees of 4 local ICT SMEs were introduced with Swift. The goal of this training program in Tuzla was to qualify employees of the local ICT companies to work in the xCode Playground, introduce them to the basics of Swift programming language, and get them familiar with Xcode environment, display, controls, data recovery, download data from the Internet and teach them to independently make their first functional iPhone mobile application.
All participants successfully completed the training program.

SIXTH COHORT OF THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM “MOJA PRAKSA” COMPLETED IN TUZLA
Upon successful completion of the sixth cycle of the internship program “Moja praksa” in Tuzla region, a certification ceremony was held today at BIT Center. Certificates were awarded to 48 participants and awards of appreciation to 14 companies/organizations that have supplied projects and mentors for this cycle.
“Moja praksa” is a three-year program of student internships focused on application of information and communication technology (ICT) where youth acquires practical knowledge and skills that will enhance their competitiveness in the labor market through the work in local companies on specific, market validated, projects. For some of the participants, the program provides motivation and experience for the eventual work on developing their own business ideas and startup firms.

WORKSHOP ON „IT CLUSTER AS A RESOURCE/EDUCATION CENTER“ HELD IN BANJA LUKA
Partnership for Innovation (PI) supported the organization of a workshop in Banja Luka today that was focused on fostering cooperation by small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from information and communication technology (ICT) in Banja Luka region in defining ICT training priorities, designing education programs and collaboration in joint efforts to access new markets for their software development products and services .
25 participants from 15 local firms including those from the recently established Banja Luka IT Cluster took part in discussions that yielded specific ideas and recommendations for programs and activities with potential to quickly assist the further development of the local ICT sector. PI will use those recommendations as guidance for the development of upcoming IT sector assistance activities and training programs.

PI started a forty-hour training program in Ruby on Rails in Tuzla today. This training is aimed at unemployed youth and SMEs from Tuzla area.
During the program participants will learn:

Web development training successfully delivered to youth with disabilities in Prijedor
Earlier today, Mission Director Mr. Peter Duffy attended a public event to mark the completion of two USAID supported, ICT training programs for 27 unemployed youth from Prijedor area. Director Duffy commended the group for the successful completion of lengthy training programs and thanked partners from Prijedor’s Economic Development Agency (PREDA) for continuing efforts in identifying ICT skills needs of local businesses and for cooperation with USAID’s Partnership for Innovation project in executing workforce development trainings for unemployed youth.
One of the two trainings in web development skills was delivered to youth with disabilities. Director Duffy acknowledged the United Way (Zajednički put) Foundation for their efforts in helping youth with disabilities and particularly for their collaboration with USAID and assistance in designing and execution of the “Joomla Webpage Content Management System” training for youth with disabilities. He expressed hope that the newly acquired skills will help them find jobs soon and become productive members of society.
The two trainings that were marked today are the latest in a series of ICT trainings for unemployed youth from Prijedor that were made possible through the support from USAID. Over the period of two years, these programs will teach more than 100 young people from this area how to use advanced technologies and teach them relevant business skills. More than 20% of participants from previous trainings obtained employment within few months following completion.
